Dolores Naglreiter (Newman) - Class Of 1961

Dolores E. Newman passed into eternity suddenly on January 10, 2025. Born New Brighton Pennsylvania in 1943, she and her family moved to Palm Beach County in the fifties. She was previously crowned Ms. Palm Beach Gardens. She met at the beach on Singer Island the love of her life Jon P. Newman whom she married. They remained married for forty-nine years until Jon’s passing in 2013. Her first job was working as a secretary for the real estate mogul John D. MacArthur. The time she spent working for “Mr. Mac” instilled in her the desire to be in the real estate business. When her children were old enough to attend school, she started her career as a realtor working for Realtech Real Estate. She then went on to work with Bud Adams at Illustrated Properties and Don and Isabel Long at Prestige Real Estate. She was among the top ten percent of realtors selling properties in Palm Beach County throughout the 80’s and 90’s. She earned her reputation as a “waterfront specialist” before that term became popular. She and Jon published the popular monthly “Waterfront Bulletin” for those living on the water advising them off all events affecting them. Her work as a realtor allowed her to do what she loved best, raising her children and being the best Mom she could be. Her compassion and skills as a Mom went beyond her own children/grandchildren to everyone who knew her when they were growing up. Even as adults, she was still their best friend to the day she left us. She was known as “D” to those people and Mema to her grandchildren.

In 1988 she and Jon made the best real estate purchase of their lives, their home on Riverside Drive. Dolores developed a talent to make her yard the most beautiful landscape of any home, being more beautiful than those maintained by professional landscapers. Her ability to grow and maintain all form of plants, trees and vegetation was amazing. When it came to putting on a party or celebrating an event, she made the event the best ever with the backdrop of her beautiful perfectly landscaped property.

Dolores leaves behind her two children Jon Michael Newman of Hobe Sound and Jon David Newman of Palm Beach Gardens, three grandchildren Dylan Newman and his Wife Lauren together with her great grandchild, Colton Newman of Hobe Sound, Kourtney Newman of Jupiter and Kendra Newman of Jupiter. She was a cherished friend by all who knew her throughout her life.

The family requests donations be made to Mounts Botanical Garden.
