In Memory

Ruth Michele "Micki" Gayler (Kirkland) - Class Of 1966

Ruth Michelle Gayler (Kirkland). Her younger sisters are putting an obit in the Palm Beach Post this Sunday, which will detail a "Celebration" of her life, tentatively at the PGA on Saturday May 16 in the afternoon. That's still tentative, so I will wait to post the memorial until something is confirmed. Her younger sister Mandy (Marilyn, PBGHS, 1970) has asked me to be an informal go between for this and her classmates. I'm on the road at them moment, but I can make the initial post before then, and then do a follow-up to give people a headsup.

A wonderful lady...

Ray

Micki's funeral notice/guest book is in today's Palm Beach Post:

http://www.legacy.com/PalmBeachPost/DeathNotices.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=127049955

Here is an excerpt:

"At her request, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life-Photographic Memories will take place on Saturday, May 16 between 2 PM and 5 PM at the Vista Ball Room, PGA National Resort & Spa, 400 Avenue of the Champions, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. Please bring a photo with a memory you had with Micki. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Micki's honor to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238."

Micki was an extraordinary human being, one of the most talented people I have ever had the pleasure to know, a great big sister to her siblings, and a loyal, loving friend to all. We shall miss her.

I was looking forward to seeing Micki at the reunion in June - I have fond memories of the last reunion when we visited. I am going to look for my 5th grade class picture, which is burried somewhere - I think that is where we first met ...at Lake Park Elementary. I look forward to seeing Micki's family and friends and remember her smiling the last time I saw her. She is missed.

PS I just found my 1st grade class photo from Riviera Beach Elementary - I don't recognize anyone - including myself. I am sure some of all our RBHS friends are in there so I will bring it.

Micki and I were very good friends.
Her family was on my Palm Beach Post-Times paper route.
We played in the band together and went to school together at Lake Park Elementary (grades 5 and 6) and RBHS (grades 7 - 12).

The most important thing is that we were close friends.
She and I were getting re-connected a few months prior to May of 2009 (unfortunately, that didn't occur).

I will always remember her great smile, caring, loving and friendly personality.

For anyone reading this, if you believe in a place called Heaven, you and I will see Micki there someday.

Everyone: please take care, reconnect with your RBHS classmates, and remember Micki.
(I always will!)
