Richard S. Taylor Jr. - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

 

TAYLOR, JR., RICHARD S., 62, of Longwood, passed away on Feb. 20, 2013. Richard was born in Brockton, MA and moved to Jupiter Island, FL at a young age. He grew up loving the outdoors. Throughout his life Richard enjoyed racing cars and boats. After graduating from Riviera Beach High School he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1970. Soon thereafter Richard graduated from the University of South Florida. In 1976 Richard graduated from the University of Miami Law School having been named to the Dean's list several semesters. His legal career spanned almost four decades and his accomplishments as an attorney are too numerous to list. Richard possessed a great legal mind and he handled numerous complex civil litigation matters through the years. He was a former president of the Seminole County Bar Association. He was also the city attorney for the City of Longwood for approximately fifteen years. Most importantly, he was a devoted and loving father to his only child, his son Spencer, whom he loved dearly. Richard's favorite times in life were spent boating, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and racing with his son. Richard was an extremely generous man and devoted much of his time to numerous charities. He had a great and unique sense of humor. He was particularly fond of children and elderly people and always treated his elderly clients with beautiful kindness and understanding. We will always hold his memory in our hearts. Richard is survived by his son, Spencer P. Taylor, brother, David Taylor; sisters, Ann Taylor Harcus and Linda Syfrett. A memorial service will be held on March 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Northland Church, 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, FL.
