Robert "Michael" Boggy (1965)

After completion of 6th grade in Canal Point, Fla. my parents moved to a gorgeous rental house on the intracoastal waterway, Rolling Green Road, in Juno Beach.  They befriended the Gaudets and visited  their Lighthouse Road house in N.P.Bch. on New Years eve for a couple years.  I met Bobby Gaudet then and we were good friends for a coupla years. My Dad had a great new job as manager of the downtown Firestone store across the street from Burdines.  A couple years later my parents divorced and we lost touch.  Bobby had a gorgeous older sister,, Muriel, that graduated from Palm Beach High in '59/'60( the only year that RBHS had no seniors).  We had good times wrasslin' on the cushy front lawn.   Since neither of us was over 100 lbs we could imitate the throws and moves we saw on TV. We kinda lost touch and went separate ways after that.   This was the time of B&W TV and and monophonic AM music.  Boy did that change by the time we graduated.  Along with our dorky haircuts with help from Vitalis and Brylcream. He was a good kid.

David Amsden (1967)

I lived around the corner from Bobby and we became good friends and hung out together quite a bit for a while in the early to mid 60's.  I got to know him quite well.  He had the longest name of anyone I ever knew.  His full name was Charles Robert Henry Francis Gaudet Jr.  I hope I got them all in the right order.     I never got back in contact with him after all these years and I just found out today 1/15/2017 that he tried to contact me back in 2012 on Classmates.  Like many of you, I don't keep up on Classmates and just happened to go there today.  When I saw that he had tried to contact me, I tried to search for him and found he lived in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, not far from where I now live in Spring Hill, FL.  I hoped I could find him and get together, but then, while searching I sadly I found his obituary where he had just recently passed last year.

Here is his obituary.

Gaudet, Charles Robert (Bob), Jr 68, of Indian Rocks Beach died Sunday May 1, 2016 at C.W.Bill Young VA Medical Center, St Petersburg, FL.  He was the son of Charles and Florence Gaudet (deceased). Born in CT and raised both in CT and FL, he graduated from Riviera Beach High School, FL, enlisted in the Air Force serving from 1966-1970.  He served in Vietnam stationed at DaNang AFB.  Bob settled in West Palm Beach upon his return and later moved to the Gulf coast residing at Indian Rocks Beach for the past 30 years.  He is survived by 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Muriel and Philip Crow, FL; Charleen and Charles Knapp of CT, Neices; Wendy Crow Broussard, Rebecca Crow Chu, Linda Knapp Del Gezzi, Jennifer Knapp and Nephews; Terry Crow, Barry Knapp, Robert Knapp and 15 great-nieces and nephews.  Memorial service Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10:am. at Serinity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd., Largo, FL. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Floor of C.W.Bill Young VA Medical Center, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., N. Bay Pines, FL 33744.

Here is Bobby's story he left on Classmates.  It gives a little insight on his final years of life. I made a few minor edits for readability.

Went into Air Force after graduation, Amarillo Tex for a couple years. Then to Na Trang, redlined my orders and sent me to DaNang. Spent my time there.  Went into the AF so I wouldn't get hurt.  What a bad move.  Was in crash rescue. When jets we dashed. When I got back, had some problems, never paid attention to them. After two marriages and 2 divorces in the 70's I stayed single.  Moved to Indian Rocks Beach, thank god.  I haven't worked since 97, with heart desease, stressed out bad.  Then I was diagnosed with PTSD.  Been going to consultation meeting once a month.  All was well till 2010 when the crap hit the fan.  Had a medical emergency. Somehow after 10 years on Albuteral some how I became allergic to it.  It stopped my breathing and was unconsious on a ventilator for 14 days.  After I got off, in hospital, had to go to a nursing home to learn how to use different utensils.  Wasn't pretty for a couple of years, couldn't get any breath, put me on oxygen.  Then last year I fractured 3 vertebrae, so from August untill February of 2014 I was flat on my back, had surgery last November, was supposed to be in good shape, out of pain.  My luck, couldn't even get off couch till February, so I go through life in my car and oxygen tanks.  Oh well, gotta keep smiling, it can be worse.

I regret I didn't see he tried to contact me and I never had the chance to contact him before he passed.  I will try to post the more recent picture of him from his obituary and his Riviera Beach High School class of 66 senior picture.  He was born September 18, 1947 and died May 1, 2016 at the age of 68.  Bobby, you will be missed. Rest in Peace!

Raymond (Ray) Eberling (1966)

A great tribute, Dave Amsden. Bobby was able to make it to the Class of 1966's 49th mini-reunion in 2015 that was held in conjunction with the Buzz that year.  He was walking aorund with an oxygen tank, but was as cheerful and friendly as we remembered him from high school.

Thank you Ray Eberling.  With that news, it's even sadder to think that I was there at the Buzz in 2015 and I remember seeing him with the oxygen and I never recognized him or knew it was him.  Wish I had known.  Very sad indeed.

I remember Bob from Phys Ed classes.  He was a wirey little guy who always had a smile on his face.  I didn't know him real well, but I liked the guy and I am so sorry to hear that he suffered so much for so long.  May he rest in peace now.
