CARLA WILSON PETERSON 63, of Riviera Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, May 5, 2008. Carla was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 18, 1944, but lived in Palm Beach County for most of her life. She graduated from Riviera Beach High School in 1962 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Florida State University in 1966. Carla taught third grade at St. Clare's School and kindergarten at Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School. She was nominated for Teacher of the Year by her peers at Loxahatchee Groves and was later named Teacher of the Week. Carla loved the kids at Loxahatchee, especially their eagerness to learn, and the families of her students because of their involvement with their children. Carla is the daughter of the late Edward Wilson and Jeannette Rowe Huttinger. She is survived by her son Eric Peterson and his love Tamara Butler of Palm Beach Gardens, her daughter Teri Jenkins and her two grandchildren Savana and Mason of Lake Worth, her brothers Craig Wilson of Juno and Peter Huttinger of Cincinnati, Ohio, her sister Wendy Wilson Bertino of Eustis, Florida, and her aunt, Jacqueline Wilson of Palm Beach Gardens. She will be sorely missed by her many nieces and nephews, their children and her many friends. Carla is remembered by family and friends as a woman of resounding generosity of spirit, an unselfish nature, an ability to live life in to the fullest, and capacity to find happiness and gratitude in any circumstance. Those who have been touched by her are enriched by her love and friendship, made stronger by her presence in their lives, and comforted by her extraordinary example of a life well-lived. Carla's life will be celebrated in a ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School for the Carla Peterson Memorial Fund to enrich their library and media center.
