Movies Posted Saturday, February 20, 2010 04:52 PM I am watching 2001 A Space Odyssey on the Turner Classic Movie Channel today. This movie I believe came out in 1969. It was big movie news then and everyone couldn't wait to see it. I went to see it with my dear friend Dave Rubinson at the Rivera Beach Theatre if I am not mistaken. Does anyone else have any movie memories? Does anyone know if the threatre is still there? Class of 1968 |

RE: Movies Posted Sunday, February 21, 2010 08:15 PM The theatre is history. Was watching a movie there once in the early 60s when about 20 Arabs dressed in white robes and head gear came in. Someone said that they were members of the Saudi Royal Family. Maybe it was 62 and they were checking out Alec Guinness as Prince Faisal. A girl whose family owned the theatre was in my 6th grade class at Lake Park elementary. Mr Rowley was our teacher. |

RE: Movies Posted Friday, February 26, 2010 03:21 PM Regarding our old theatres, does anyone remember the old Palms Theatre in downtown WPB? It was absolutely beautiful. I believe it was torn down for a parking lot. Class of 1968 |

RE: Movies Posted Wednesday, March 3, 2010 07:51 AM Absolutely: It had a balcony and had Saturday matinees. My brother and I saw Li'l Abner there. In the same building was Johnny's Trick Shop, a magic store. Then there was the Colony and the Paramount in Palm Beach. Ray |

I saw Sweet Bird of Youth there in 1962. I was too young for that film. Put all sorts of weird ideas in my numb scull. I think I rode my bike down there at the age of 14 |

RE: Movies Posted Wednesday, October 17, 2012 07:54 PM The Riviera Beach Theater was torn down for a Walgreens. They took Johnny's Back Door down with it to build on the entire corner of US1. The most amazing thing is it was somewhere around 2000 or 2001, I know for sure it was down in 2001. |
