In Memory

Sheila Bricker (Kerslake) - Class Of 1965

Sharon Hood Beaumont

Dear Friends...tonight we (02/11/13)  lost Sheila Kerslake and Heaven gained an angel. I have told you before that she was my friend, my roommate, my compatriot, my secret sharer, my friend to dream with, my pal since the 8th grade and the person who always made me laugh. We shared so many of life's biggest moments together..our happiest moments and our saddest moments. We both wound up with the "boys" we loved in high school. My son was was born on her birthday. Sheila was special. And tonight, her children, Amy and David, and her most beloved Joe Genchi, allowed me to share in her passing to Heaven. I loved her like a sister I never had and I will miss her. But, I am forever thankful to have been part of her life.

Age 65, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on February 11, 2013. Sheila was born on April 8, 1947, in Hershey, PA, to parents Chester and Esther Bricker. She graduated in the Class of 1969 from Florida State University. While at FSU, she was a member of the Flying High Circus and the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Post graduation she was a member of the Seminole Boosters. Sheila then received her Masters Degree for Library Science from FAU in 1985. She taught at Palm Beach Gardens High School for thirty years and coached the swim team for over twenty years. A Sustaining Member of the Junior League, Sheila loved golf and her second home in Hiawassee Georgia. I have known Sheila for 51 years. We met in the 8th grade. We were Jr. Varsity cheerleaders together and sophomore class officers. We were roommates on our 25th class reunion cruise and room together again for the 30th reunion. About 15 years ago Bill Stansfield started having summer gatherings at his lake house and we always saw each other there. This past summer my husband and I visited Sheila & Joe (Genchi) at their Hiwassee home. These 51 years have been filled with great times together. Sheila was so much fun. She had a beautiful smile and her laugh was infectious. By far the strongest woman I know. She loved her children, grandchildren and partner Joe. We all were blessed to have had Sheila in our lives and we have lost a precious friend. We have laughed and cried together, shared secrets but I will always remember all the good times.  I will miss her greatly.    Brenda Stiles Pelfrey (class of 65)

Sorry to hear of Sheila's passing and long battle.  Though my only contact  after high school, was through the postings over the years, it is still sad to lose someone you knew.  Condolences to the family and friends of Sheila.

I am sad to say I have not kept up with what has been happening with the class, but I was thinking about the class reunion, etc. so I logged on.  When I read about Sheila, I could not believe it.  She was a great gal and I know her family will surely miss her.
