Andrea Longyear, class of '65, writes her mother Coila Longyear, senior honors English teacher, turned 97 in 2010. She lives independently in a retirement community in Boca Raton.

Like many of us, I had Mrs. Longyear for 12th grade English. She was among the best and really challenged us.  She gave me a life-long love of British literature, which continued at Palm Beach Junior College with Watson B. Duncan III there, whom many of you will remember. She was one of those teachers who, if you acted like an adult, she treated you like an adult.
