Hamlet at Webster Hall NYC

Tomorrow night, 4/4/2011 at 8PM I'll be playing Claudius, the King in a production of Hamlet at Webster Hall in New York City.  This is the premier venue for all the latest popular music and club freaks. This performance will be streamed I'm told on the following site:

http://www.nycliverock.com/

The site has it listed.  I'm actually the star of this event.

Was up for the role opf Claudius at PBJC inthe year after I graduated from RBHS.  Burt Reynolds was supposed to play Hamlet.  Yeah, sure.

I was up for his understudy as well.

Reynolds showed up one day, and the director had us stand on stage next to him.  Reynolds freaked standing next to me.  Signaled the director that I was too tall.  The director's boyfriend got the role of Hamlet's understudy, and another, shorter actor was cast as Claudius.

Reynolds bailed out on Hamlet - very wisely.  The director's boyfriend then became Hamlet.

Was in an event with Reynolds later at the Leakey TeePee, WPB auditorium.  Reynolds said hi and that he remembered me and that he hoped he didn't cause me to lose the parts.  I told him that the director was always concerned about how the cast, especially those characters that were related looked together.

Reynolds response, "Oh, I thought he based it on talent."

This Hamlet is 5' 6

For those who missed Hamlet at Webster Hall, we'll be doing several scenes from Hamlet Friday evening May 27 at the Players Club on Gramercy Park South in NYC. This is Edwin Booth's historic home.  Please come as my guest and enjoy a night of Shakespeare in a most appropriate setting.

Quite a night - last night.  35 actors playing about twice the number of roles in half of Shakespeare's plays at The Players Club with Edmund Booth and other greats from the past looking on from their portraits scatterred throughout the Club.

I portrayed three kings including Richard III,  his last speech before the battle of Bosworth reprising the same speech I gave in 1965 representing RBHS Drama at a speech contest at PBJC.  I received a third place as I recall.

I think my goilfriend talked her boyfriend into taking her to see it.  He was not impressed.
